I was born in Frankfurt, Germany and hav been living here akk my life.
My mother is German, my father was Belgian (from Brussels). I do have both nationalities.
Belgium as an independent country was established only in 1830. The Flemish and French
speaking people are said not to like each other. At the beginning of the century and in the
late 19th century there was much industrie in the Wallonie (french speaking part), because there were many
coal mines around. Where the Flemish live the was just farming land, so the French
speaking became superstitious and talked about the "dumb Flemish peasants". Now itīs
vice versa. Heavy industries are out in Europe, we do have too much steel cookers. However, the Flemish
part has become some sort of Belgian silicon valley.
